Bondurant Mixson & Elmore LLP is pleased to announce three of its practice areas and six attorneys are ranked in the 2024 edition of Chambers USA. This is the 21st consecutive year the firm has appeared in the legal directory.

Bondurant’s commercial litigation and antitrust practices received prestigious Band 1 rankings in this year’s guide. Bondurant is the only firm in Georgia with fewer than 800 lawyers to achieve these Band 1 rankings. Additionally, the firm’s white collar crime and government investigations practice was also recognized.

For over two decades, Chambers USA has surveyed and interviewed clients and lawyers across the country to determine which firms and attorneys are considered leaders in their field. Rankings assess key qualities, including technical ability, professional conduct, client service, diligence, commitment and more.

Bondurant Mixson & Elmore LLP proudly announces Mike Terry has been selected for the Tradition of Excellence Award by the State Bar of Georgia.

This prestigious award is presented to four distinguished members of the General Practice & Trial Law Section annually: a plaintiff lawyer, a defense lawyer, a general practice lawyer and a judge. The winners are chosen from nominees who have demonstrated outstanding achievement, made significant contributions to the State Bar of Georgia, shown a strong commitment to community service and upheld a personal dedication to excellence throughout their careers.

Terry specializes in complex trial and appellate matters, having been a key member of the plaintiffs’ trial teams for the two largest verdicts in Georgia history. He has also played a pivotal role in appeals, being on the winning side of the largest verdict ever reversed in Georgia as well as the largest verdict ever affirmed on appeal in the state.

Throughout his career, he has served as trial counsel in cases resulting in over $2.4 billion in plaintiff verdicts and several hundred million dollars in settlements. As appellate counsel, his clients have collected almost $1 billion.

Additionally, Terry has played a crucial role in shaping the legal precedents that impact plaintiffs, especially through his appellate work, including his successful work opposing damages caps.

He will receive his award during the State Bar’s Annual Meeting on June 7.

Bondurant Mixson & Elmore LLP proudly announces 15 of its attorneys have been recognized as Super Lawyers and one as a Rising Star in the 2024 rankings. Each year, no more than five percent of lawyers in the state are selected by the research team at Super Lawyers to receive this honor.

Notably, Michael Terry has been named a Top 10 attorney in Georgia for the second consecutive year, while Frank Lowrey secured a spot in the Top 100 for the sixth time.

Super Lawyers, part of Thomson Reuters, is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The annual selections are made using a multiphase process, including a statewide survey of lawyers, an independent research evaluation of candidates and peer reviews. The selection process for Rising Stars is the same as Super Lawyers, with one exception: to be eligible, a candidate must be either 40 years old or younger or in practice for 10 years or less.

Bondurant Mixson & Elmore LLP attorney Frank M. Lowrey IV has been recognized by Best Lawyers as the 2024 “Lawyer of the Year” for Appellate Practice.

THE BONDURANT PARTNER WAS PART OF THE LEGAL TEAM THAT OBTAINED $1.7 BILLION VERDICT IN HILL V. FORD MOTOR CO.

Bondurant Mixson & Elmore LLP is pleased to announce Mike Terry has been selected as a finalist for Public Justice’s 2023 Trial Lawyer of the Year (TLOY) Award for his work in Hill v. Ford Motor Co.

The TLOY Award recognizes the accomplishments of an attorney or team of attorneys working on behalf of individuals and groups that have faced significant injustice. This is a joint nomination for the attorneys on the team representing the plaintiffs in the case.

In Hill v. Ford Motor Co., which resulted in the largest verdict in Georgia’s history, the jury ruled in favor of two brothers who lost their parents when the roof of their Ford F250 Super Duty truck collapsed during a rollover accident. The plaintiffs presented evidence that the automobile manufacturer had sold over five million Super Duty pickups with dangerously weak roofs.

“This verdict sends a message that companies cannot disregard safety defects, and consumer safety takes precedence over corporate profit,” says Terry. “I’m immensely proud to be part of the legal team that achieved this landmark ruling on behalf of our clients.”

In addition to Terry, James E. Butler, Jr., and Daniel B. Philyaw of Butler Prather, and Gerald Davidson, Jr., of Mahaffey Pickens Tucker were nominated for their work on the case.

Each year, Public Justice, a nonprofit legal advocacy organization, presents its TLOY Award to the attorney(s) who made the greatest contribution to the public interest by trying or settling a precedent-setting, socially significant case.

This year’s award winner will be announced during Public Justice’s Annual Gala and Awards Presentation in Philadelphia on Monday, July 17.

Partner Mike Terry was named a 2023 Distinguished Leader by the Daily Report’s Southeastern Legal Awards. This award recognizes lawyers who achieved impressive results in 2022 and demonstrated clear leadership skills that helped them achieve those results.

In 2021, Terry was selected by the Daily Report as Lawyer of the Year.

Previously known as the Georgia Legal Awards, the program was expanded this year to include Georgia, as well as Alabama, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.

The honors will be presented at a June 22 gala in Atlanta.
