Fourteen Bondurant attorneys recognized as 2026 Super Lawyers, seven as Rising Stars

Bondurant proudly announces 14 of its attorneys are recognized as Super Lawyers and seven as Rising Stars in the 2026 rankings. Notably, Mike Terry is named one of Georgia’s top 10 attorneys for the fourth consecutive year.

Each year, no more than five percent of lawyers in the state are selected by Super Lawyers, a Thomson Reuters rating service recognizing outstanding attorneys across more than 70 practice areas. The selection process is based on peer recognition and professional achievement and includes a statewide survey of lawyers, an independent research evaluation of candidates, and peer review by practice area.

The Rising Stars selection process is the same as Super Lawyers, with one exception: to be eligible, a candidate must be either 40 years old or younger or in practice for 10 years or less.

Here is the complete list of Bondurant attorneys and their selection years:

Sunny Altman (Rising Star), 2026

Robbie Ashe, 2020 – 2026

Samsung can’t void $10M judgment in exploding battery case

Georgia appeals court rules manufacturer is liable by default for injuries suffered by a Georgia man.

The Georgia Court of Appeals has reinstated a $10.8 million judgment against Samsung in favor of a Georgia man seriously injured by an exploding vape battery. Bondurant’s Mike Terry represented the plaintiff, who suffered permanent injuries in the 2019 incident.

After nearly five years of litigation and multiple appeals, the Court held that the case was properly filed in Chatham County and that Samsung’s attempt to open default came too late.

Ga. Panel Considers New Statute In $46M Med Mal Case

In a closely watched appeal stemming from a $45.8M medical malpractice verdict, Bondurant’s Mike Terry argued before the Georgia Court of Appeals that the state’s new tort reform statute should not apply retroactively to reverse an attorney fee award made before the statute’s effective date and that doing so could disrupt hundreds of cases across Georgia tried before that effective date.

Litigation Heavy-Hitters Face Off in Showdown on Damages Cap

Partner Mike Terry recently argued before the Georgia Supreme Court on behalf of the appellee in a case in which the appellant is seeking to reinvigorate caps on medical malpractice damages.

The dispute centers on whether the state’s malpractice damages cap, declared unconstitutional in 2010, should nonetheless apply to medical malpractice claims involving wrongful death.  This is an issue that could have significant implications for future cases.

The Georgia Supreme Court is testing a new oral argument format that gives attorneys two uninterrupted minutes to make their case.

The Daily Report spoke with firm partners Michael Terry and Naveen Ramachandrappa, who shared their insights. Terry noted that the change adds a level of predictability to oral arguments, while Ramachandrappa highlighted its potential benefits for attorneys and clients who are less familiar with the appellate process.

Bondurant Mixson & Elmore signs amicus brief supporting Perkins Coie in executive order legal challenge

Bondurant Mixson & Elmore (BME), an elite litigation boutique, is proud to join hundreds of law firms and legal advocacy groups in filing an amicus brief supporting Perkins Coie’s challenge to Executive Order 14230, issued by the Trump administration.

The presidential order raises concerns about retaliation against law firms representing clients with opposing political views, undermining due process, freedom of expression and the separation of powers.

“Our firm is committed to the rule of law and the fundamental principles protecting the legal profession’s independence,” says partner Mike Terry. “We’re proud to participate in this effort to safeguard our community’s ability to represent clients without fear of governmental retaliation.”

The firm continues its long history of advocating for the rule of law. Founder Emmet Bondurant dedicated more than five decades to constitutional litigation, civil rights and fairness in the legal system. In 1964, he argued Wesberry v. Sanders before the U.S. Supreme Court, which established the principle of “one person, one vote.”

Last year, while accepting the ABA Medal, the American Bar Association’s highest honor, Bondurant addressed an audience at the organization’s Annual Meeting. He stated: “Democratic values are under attack as they’ve never been in recent memory. The role of lawyers is critical… As lawyers, you are uniquely skilled; you have the power few others have to intervene and make the legal system work not merely for those of wealth and power but also for the least among us.”

Bondurant’s commitment to the rule of law continues in the work of the lawyers at BME today.
